January is Houseplant Month at Moscarillo’s, and we’re turning the entire month into a celebration of all things leafy, green, and growing. Whether you’re just starting your plant journey, expanding into rare varieties, building a pet-safe home jungle, or ready to explore more advanced care techniques, we’ll be sharing helpful guidance, expert insights, and plenty of inspiration all month long.

Throughout January, we’ll be covering four major themes: 

• beginner-friendly plants, 
• rare houseplants, 
• pet-friendly plant options, and;
• advanced plant care. 

Each theme will help you explore a different corner of the houseplant world — from easy starter varieties and confidence-building care tips, to understanding plant science, plant toxicity, and what it takes to support more challenging species. You’ll learn about selecting the right plants for your home, recognizing their unique needs, and building better indoor environments during the coldest months of the year.

We’ll also dive into topics like the science behind variegated plants, how to choose plants for homes with pets, how to recognize early signs of plant stress, and how to make sense of changing winter light levels. Whether you’re here to keep a pothos happy or master a humidity-loving showpiece, the focus this month is on helping you grow with confidence.

🌱 January Events at Moscarillo’s

Houseplant Month is filled with hands-on opportunities to learn and create in the greenhouse. On January 10th, join us for Houseplant 101, a free seminar led by Marissa that covers the fundamentals — light, watering, soil, repotting, and how to avoid the most common mistakes new plant parents face.

On January 19th, we’re hosting a pet-themed pottery painting station for kids, a fun way for young plant lovers to get creative while we highlight pet-safe plant choices throughout the shop.

Then, we close the month with our Herb Container Workshop on January 31st, where you’ll build a fresh indoor herb garden and learn how to choose and care for the best culinary herbs for winter growth.
